This week’s learning experience There are things you can not compromise. These are: your loyalty to God, your loyalty to your spouse and your loyalty to your family. This means that you have to prioritize your time otherwise you will be led by the things that are not important and will cause chaos in your personal life. This line stood out from Jan Newman’s talk, “Don’t be too busy to take a calling in the church because when you need the Lord’s help, he’ll know where your heart is and it won’t be on his side.” This was a reminder to me to always put God first and he will help guide me when I ask for guidance. Few people become a successful entrepreneur right out of school. It is best to work and gain experience in a position where you can gain industry, operational and fundraising skills.   o    What were your key takeaways from "A Hero's Journey" video? I have gained a better understanding of what it takes to be on an entrepreneur’s journey and have learned these lessons.  A hero’s journey means: ·        To live every moment of your life like it matters because it does. ·        Live like you have an important mission because you do. ·        Seeing struggles as adventures and setbacks as lessons This basically means to do not wait to find out your purpose so you can start living and feel like your life matters. You can live your life while you are in the journey because every moment of your life matters even your struggles. How would you measure your life? It was eye opening to learn to keep my purpose front and center as I decide how to spend my time, talents and energy. Too many successful people I know and look up to have broken marriages and relationships because they lost focus of their purpose. I do not think people ever plan to break up especially after living a successful life but I think that if we do not keep our purpose in mind in our daily living we tend to go astray. As taught in chapter 4, people are driven to excel have unintentionally underinvest in their families and overinvest in their careers. “The intimate and loving relationships with family are the most powerful and enduring source of Happiness.” This line from this week’s lesson couldn’t be more true.   Remembering God daily This week’s lesson was a great reminder to always have faith in the Savior. Studying Sister Sheri L. Dew’s talk reminds me of how nothing is impossible to the Lord. If I can keep this in mind when I face challenges, “have faith that the Lord can and will help you, and then diligently seek His help.” It is not enough for me to just have faith in Him, I must pray and ask then go and do the work. As I struggle everyday with my studies, if I put my trust in Him it would do me a lot of good. This part of the reading was an eye opener, “The more the Lord trusts you, the more knowledge and power He will give you.” This is a journey and I must treat it as such. It is not a one time thing, to pray only in my time of need, or in the beginning of the semester and explain all the things I need help with and then pray again at the end of the semester for help with my exam.   Create a Life of Meaning Journal o      §   Why do you think Randy Pausch was able to achieve so many of his childhood dreams? I think Randy Pausch was able to achieve his childhood dreams because his parents encouraged his creative mind. It was also because he never gave up. He saw failure the way people did not see it as he received the rejection letter. It was an opportunity to reflect and see how badly he wanted that chance to work at Disneyland engineering department. That is why he ended up working there at the end. §   Do you feel that dreaming is important? Why or why not? I feel dreaming is important.
