Overcoming Challenges

I learn so much for Sister and Elder Holland’s talk this week. These are some of the things I learn:

Sister Holland’s talk was inspiring to me. She said, “The only limitations you have are those you set on yourselves…sometimes we cannot recognize the real purpose and significance of the moment…because too many of us learn only through our heads and not through our hearts.” I thought to myself, how true is this statement! I have dreams and goals that I feel are so out of my reach without even trying or starting because of such words I tell myself such as I am not smart enough and not good enough to do these but I realize think the way I think because I use my head so much that I forget that heaven above knows me and that Heavenly Father speaks to me through my heart that if I listen with my heart I can do anything with God’s help.

Elder Holland said, “It is simply a truism that nothing very valuable can come without significant sacrifice and effort and patience on our part.” I wish I could pin this line to my head so I can always remember it. If I can always keep this in mind, I know I would keep on working hard towards my goals and dreams, complain less about the trials I face during my journey and keep at it, it will all be worth it at the end as long I have done my best, I know I would not feel bad about the result of my hard work.

As I came across this part of the talk it looked so familiar and I reflected on it and found that it is true, I sometimes give up because I do not imagine accomplishing my goals at the end and I felt inspired that next time I feel like giving up to think of the day I finally arrive at the finish line. Elder Holland said, “Look beyond your daily struggle and imagine the success you are after. When you do not imagine accomplishing your goal, it is easy to throw in the towel. You can see it, the object of your hard work, you want it so bad it is worth the fight you decide.
