Important things to remember

One of the things that stood out from this week’s reading to me is this quote from Elder Bednar’s talk, Brigham Young University Idaho – A Disciple Preparation Center, “The first principle of the gospel is not simply faith, but faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.” This is something I told myself while I was reading that I need to always attach the Savior’s name to faith so that I always remember it is not just faith but faith in my Savior, it sounds more meaningful and not mundane. Another quote from the same talk that was eye opening, “The Lord’s disciples shall not fear. Precisely because such disciples are prepared, they shall not fear.” I have to keep this line in mind because it is easy to feel fear when everyone around you has the same fear. Whatever is happening can have a ripple effect in those who do not have the same understanding as us but if I keep in mind the things I have learned, the prophies that are being fulfilled and those that are yet to come, and that if I heed the guidance of the spirit, I will be ok.

In the video, “Good to Great”, I learn something that I found true with myself that I thought if I try to be great my life will be much better, it is not enough to be just good. “Good is the enemy of great. It is so easy to be good but most good people find their comfort zone in their goodness and never discover the joy and inner peace that come from discovering greatness.”

I learn and felt inspired to become a good leader one day from the video, “Achieving Higher Ground”, are the definitions of a good leader:

·       A person who takes others to higher ground.

·       Stands up for something and motivate others to do something without influence rewards.

·       Willing to sacrifice themselves for great causes and take responsible action.

·       Someone who stood up and made a difference in the world.

·       Embrace their responsibility to defend freedom and inequality.

·       Cause things to happen and motivate people by their willing conviction.

·       They stand up for or against important issues.
